The Oxford Dictionary defines ‘the doll’ as;

1. an object that represents a baby, other human being or animal

2. the 127th episode of NBC sitcom Seinfeld. This was the 17th episode for the 7th season and it aired on February 22, 1996.

And similar to the episode of the Seinfeld where Kramer accidentially launches a ‘Junior Mint’ into a patient inside an operating theatre, the Urban Cowboys deliberately launched themselves into a non-medical theatre – the theatre of dreams that is the doll industry at the 2011 Stanhope Doll, Bear and Craft Fair.

Whether it be young girls who have carried their childhood doll obsession through to their adult years, or their husbands who have been dragged along for the journey, there was magic in the air that day…and a slight scent of lavender.

So strap yourself in and get dolled up. How much can you bear?

Apparently, quite a bit if you have read this far down the page.

Giddy up,

The 2012 incarnation of the Stanhope Doll, Bear and Craft Fair is happening on the 25th and 26th February at the Blacktown Leisure Centre (Corner of Stanhope Parkway & Sentry Drive, Stanhope Gardens). For more information, head to http://www.stanhopedbcfair.com/
